Mero Gigante Project was founded out of the need to generate knowledge of the life history and the health of the giant sea bass populations in Mexican waters. We believe in the need to use scientific knowledge as the baseline for generating sustainable management strategies.
We also believe in collaboration between researchers, civil organizations, fishers, and stakeholders to achieve research objectives, broaden the scope and generate a more significant impact with our work. We are always open to collaborate and address new research questions.
Our research products are published in international peer-reviewed journals as part of the process to ensure that the research provides accurate conclusions based on solid and professional work.
Mero Gigante Project places meaningful efforts on raising awareness about the importance of the sustainability of our oceans and their resources. In particular, the need to obtain accurate information to generate knowledge about the giant sea bass populations results in the creation of solutions and management strategies that make social sense.
Our education initiatives are developed in two strategies:
We believe in the importance of sharing information and open access to data as a catalyst for more and better science.
In accordance with the guidelines of academic journals on handling research data, we will make our data available when requested.
